The cloud computing has got significance over the years considering the cyber-attacks, data theft etc. Microsoft has gained significant achievement in the industry with its cloud service platform "Microsoft Azure". It introduces Advisor feature and options for automation to add more customers to the platform. Significantly, Microsoft Azure aims to target the market leader "Amazon Web Services" with the move.

The new Microsoft Azure Advisor feature preview has made available to the users. The feature is nothing but "a personalized recommendation" kind of tool to help the users to complete the tasks and services accurately and on-time. The company feels that the new tool would help the users to take out of guesswork and helping to deploy the applications using the firm's cloud computing suite.

"Microsoft Azure Advisor tool would evaluate users' resource configuration and usage patterns, and identify any risks or issues," said Shankar Sivadasan of Microsoft. "The tool then suggests the user, the best practices, recommended solutions and possible optimizations to the user to reduce the cost and improve the performance and security of the applications." The recommendations from Microsoft Azure Advisor is of four types; performance, high availability, cost and security.

Similarly, Microsoft Azure now enables users to automate tasks and services in the cloud platform. "PowerShell", the scripting tool used by Windows admins is now there to support Microsoft Azure customers. Actually, PowerShell is using a customized scripting pattern with a sequence of steps in Microsoft Azure, known as Runbooks. It now supports declarative patterns and these patterns are now called as Desired State Configuration (DSC).

Both DSC and Runbooks are changing the automation pattern of Microsoft Azure and adding diversity and options to the cloud platform. This means that user has the option of flexibility and he can choose according to his convenience, expertise, and requirement. The added features are expected to make the Microsoft Azure cloud platform stronger and popular so that it will help to beat Amazon Web Services in becoming the industry leader.
