Finally, after numerous speculationd and waiting, the "Attack on Titan" Season 2's release date is here. The makers have announced that Season 2 will premiere in the spring of 2017.

Producers have confirmed the second season in November 2014. It was expected to air in 2016. After the announcement, there were no updates. After more than two years of radio silence, it has now been announced that season 2 will be aired in spring next year, according to Asahi Shimbun.

"Attack on Titan" synopsis reads: "Humans live in a post-apocalyptic world. They reside in cities which are protected by high walls which keep the human eating Titans away. The main characters of the series are Eren, Mikasa and other members of the Survey Corps."

The Season 1 was noted to have followed the comics religiously. According to its showrunners, the main reason for the delay is the absence of material to work on a second 25 episode season.

At the end of Season 1, squad leader, Hange Zoë sees a priest from the religious sect worshipping the walls that protect the city. He questions the priest the reason and said reason will be revealed on season 2.

"Attack on Titan" Season 2 will give viewers insight into the back story of the Survey Corps. According to leaked plot lines, Commander Erwin Smith and Armin are injured when they fight Beast Titan and Colossus Titan. Eren pleads Levi to give the life-saving serum to Armin and save him. Against better judgment Levi saves Armin, according to Gack Hollywood.

Another speculated plot line is Mikasa being eaten by a powerful titan. She will be given the ability to transform into a Titan. Eren finally unlocks his basement with the key his father left him. A leaked story suggests that he becomes a Beast Titan too and is terrifying than others.

More updates are expected on the exact Attack on Titan Season 2 release date and story line.
