The third season premiere of "The Affair" reveals three years following Noah's taking fault in the death of Cole's brother Scotty. The second season finale of "The Affair" ended with imprisoned Noah and intertwined relationships between Allison, Cole, Noah, and Scotty.

The third season premiere of "The Affair" has completely taken a different turn in the past two seasons. For one, viewers observed that the viewpoint usually at the beginning of an episode is now Noah-centric, in contrast with the three-angle viewpoint previously. The soundtrack is also made creepier.

"The Affair" season three premiere starts with Noah attending a funeral for his father that he despises, resembling a striking similarity between Noah and Martin, his oldest son. When Noah stood at the grave, however, he was constantly looking over his shoulder, scanning the vicinity for the prison guard. Then, something caught the attention of Noah, which angers him immediately.

Noah is now working a humble university somewhere in New Jersey. He was kicked out of his sister's apartment and found a cheap apartment to sublet. Of course, "The Affair" isn't complete without sensual secrets, and Noah's for the season opener is Juliette, telling him that he loved the "Descent." Juliette is an attractive professor who wears tight and short red skirt. As they were kissing, the horn of the train blew hard as the lights flashed. A terrified Noah got up and ran out of the house as if trying to run away from someone. Clearly, Noah is traumatized and the story of "The Affair" is as thick as a season premiere should be.

The episode of "The Affair" ends with Noah, with a manuscript on his table, trying to call Allison, the first time the premiere made Allison's presence felt, towards the end. He then cleaned up the apartment, hearing noises and sensing someone behind him. He grabbed his shoulder, and there was blood oozing from a fresh neck wound.

Noah's troubled 3-year imprisonment in "The Affair" is full of horrors. Viewers are left to speculate that traumatic events happened in the prison, and someone is following him around. The question is, why?
