"SpongeBob Squarepants" is a kiddy cartoon show created by a Marine Biologist and animator Stephen Hillinberg for Nickelodeon. His episodes are set under the ocean floor in Bikini City, several feet under Bikini atoll in the Pacific. The main character, "SpongeBob", a talking sponge, lives in a two story underwater pineapple. He works in a fast food restaurant. Its fame qualified the show for a media franchise and had been on the hotlist as the top cartoon show. It was the highest rated show ever. As of 2015, it had reached to up to $12billion dollars in revenue for Nickelodeon as reported in IMDb.

The storylines are about the adventures and misadventures of "SpongeBob Squarepants" and friends. Sometimes, some episodes are up to nonsense but since its cartoons, they could get away with it.

The first farcical gossip of cancellation was heard of last 2013 with no basis and no source. Three years ago, fake news surfaced that "SpongeBob Squarepants" cancellation was set on January 28, 2014, officially. Followers of the show were disappointed upon learning of this hoax. The bad news was negatively received.

The most recent resurfacing of this fabricated cancellation of "SpongeBob Squarepants" was last October 17, 2016. The news outraged fans. Some fans went to expressing their frustrations in social media. Most are worried of not having to see their favorite kiddy cartoons again.
