'Steven Universe' Fall Special 'Gem Harvest' Recap,Spoilers; Steven's New Power Revealed, Thanksgiving Episode With A New Character

After months of hiatus, the fall episode of "Steven Universe" finally aired back-to-back Episodes 8 and 9 named "Gem Harvest" with a Thanksgiving and probably post-election themes. Given the title, many have assumed that the back-to-back Fall episode of "Steven Universe" will be about the Gems themselves, but the episode focused on another subject.

Spoiler Alert! Following paragraphs contain spoilers from "Steven Universe Episodes 8-9 "Gem Harvest."

The Fall episode of "Steven Universe" started with Steven at Chateau du Lapidot for a sleepover. He sees new cornfields and pumpkin patch walked through to meet Lapis where he accidentally set off the watering hose. Peridot joins them saying that since she has the ability to grow Gems, she tried growing plants. She then grabs some corn and instructs them to grow, but Steven told her that's not how it works. Frustrated Peridot and Lapis walked away, while Steven secretly licks the seed then plants it.

The following day, Peridot and Lapis were delighted to see a pumpkin dog. This scene of "Steven Universe" showed Steven's ability to create a living thing from a plant. But, the two Gems think that they created the dog, without knowing Steven's ability. Steven then admits to creating the pumpkin dog, which he muses that the dog is a new addition to the family.

The new character that was in the trailer of "Steven Universe" "Gem Harvest" episode was Steven's Uncle Andy, Greg's cousin he was at odds with. When Andy arrived, Greg introduced him to Steve, his nephew. Andy warmly scoops Steve up and muses that he didn't know he had a nephew. Greg then talked with him to catch up while the other Gems prepare dinner.

In time for Thanksgiving, the Gems, Steven, Andy, and Greg all gathered around for dinner. Gems' idea of celebration was a combination of all festivities - from birth, wedding, death, and even baby shower. Andy loosens up and enjoys the merriment, as they started dinner with dessert. The Gems talked about Earth, the Homeworld, and together gave thanks to each other, leaving Andy out. Andy felt he was left behind, and walked away. Steven then chased Andy. Steven told him it was not too late to become a family, and that he can always come visit anytime. Andy then hugs Greg, then the pumpkin dog puked at the wedding cake. The "Steven Universe" episode "Gem Harvest" ended with a bunch of laughter from the family gathered for Thanksgiving dinner.

Next "Steven Universe" episode ten "Three Gems And A Baby" will air on December 1, 2016, at 7PM.
