"Sherlock" franchise comes back for 2017 but the return will entail strings of good and not so good news. One good news, Benedict Cumberbatch is sure to be reprising the lead role but the not so good one is that the come-back series might be the end.

There is more to discover as the episodes slowly unfold a few months from now. It can be remembered The much-awaited showrunner took almost three years of hiatus before going up again. Last year, the 90-minuter Sherlock's special episode "The Abominable Bride" became a success, but only whetted the appetites of the followers hungry for the follow-up.

"Sherlock's" premiere coined as 'The Six Thatchers' will welcome the new year, 2017.  The crime drama series offers a dark themed episode, beginning the old footage of Moriarty, which is similarly shown on the season 3 ending, with a question, "Did you miss me?".

These mere words seem to disturb Sherlock; with the something is coming theme. He is not in favor of the return of the 'villain', Professor Moriarty the criminal mastermind.

"Sherlock" revealed its first two episodes last September, the 'The Six Thatchers' and 'The Lying Detective', while the third installment's title is still under study. The comeback season promises to be breath-taking and worth the wait. It is also believed to be the darkest and has the most daring episodes of all runs, as compared to the first three seasons which were all lightly themed. Also, the significant characters from Watson and Sherlock's past will be back.

The heartbreaking and tragic events are expected to be seen in "Sherlock" Season 4. Tragic in the sense that this will be the last. Or will it be?

"Sherlock" Season 4 on the 1st of January 2017.
