The smart speaker developed by Amazon, "Amazon Echo" has been completed 2 years and found to be a multi-purpose device and controller. it also is a security gadget that can do a number of tasks for each of the customers. It is better to understand the full depth of the functions it offers, as the users can utilize it in full extent. Google came with its "Google Home" recently to take on the retail giant's device.

Amazon Echo is priced at $179.99, has improvised a lot over the past two years and can be controlled by voice commands. It is important to note that not all the voice are recognizable by Amazon Echo, but some selective commands would really work. Especially if a voice command like "Alexa: stop!" said, it immediately stops the activity it was performing. Also, users of Amazon Echo can use simple instructions like "Alexa: mute" or "Alexa: volume up" etc.

People who are not happy with using "Alexa" in Amazon Echo, have the option to choose two more choices to set and that can be "Amazon" or "Echo". Users can go to Alexa app set in the smartphone, select settings, choose Echo and finally tap and change the "wake word". Also, sports and traffic updates can be received in Amazon Echo. By entering the residence address in Alexa, people would start getting the local weather forecast and sports news. Users can set office address also to receive updates from that locality.

With Amazon Echo users can control most of the home appliances, electronic gadgets etc. Users can log on to Alexa, then go to skills, select categories, choose smart-home and upon search, the devices would be listed on the screen and users can do the setup. After that users can simply issue commands and control the devices, be it a thermostat, air conditioner, smart-lighting etc.

Amazon Echo also helps users to add their calendar to it, which can issue notifications on events, appointments etc. For this, go to Alexa App and then calendar, choose Google calendar then link to Google calendar account. Then, users can ask about the upcoming events, appointments etc., and Amazon Echo would be able to answer to its users.

For users who have Prime account, can use Amazon Echo to order items from the online retailer. After enabling the voice purchasing option in Alexa app, users can simply issue a voice command to order a particular item and it will be ordered to the users.

Amazon Echo is obviously an innovation in producing quality useful products for better control on home devices and personal management. However, the firm should be very careful about the cyber security of the device considering the number of IoT devices that are hacked recently especially with DDoS attack. Such attacks can tarnish the image of the good quality product and bring down the reputation of the firm.
