Mark Zuckerberg has finally addressed the issue that their company allowed "fake news" in order to tilt the US Presidential election result. He even calls the idea "crazy" at a conference in Half Moon Bay, California.

"Personally I think the idea that fake news on Facebook of which it's a very small amount of the content influenced the election in any way is a pretty crazy idea," He added that their initial research showed that there was no filter bubble created and that the social media giant still offers "wide-range of perspectives."

Mark Zuckerberg and Facebook were accused of swaying the result of the recently concluded presidential election. An interviewee at a tech conference in California asked the founder about the "fake" political news that has been going around during the election period.

To add, David Kirkpatrict, founder and CEO of Techonomy Media and the author of The Facebook Effect: The Inside Story of the Company That is Connecting the World, pointed fingers against Zuckerberg claiming that Facebook actually helped determine the outcome of the election since the social media platform is now becoming a great source of news and information, sometimes fake news.

In a Facebook post, Zuckerberg also addressed that issue and said that it is very unlikely for hoaxes to have steered the election result. He said that "Of all the content on Facebook, more than 99% of what people see is authentic," and added that "the hoaxes that do exist are not limited to one partisan view, or even to politics."

But because of this controversy, Facebook will be evaluating their policies and will implement changes soon after. The company also assured the public that it has been their long time goal to eliminate fake news in their feeds, and that they will become more stringent in doing so in the coming days.
