The regularity of your BM is perhaps not so interesting topic, but if you connect it with the increased risk of developing kidney disease it’s becoming quite important.

Live Science reports that US medical researchers have discovered an important connection between constipation and increased risk of kidney disease. The authors have shown that patients with that had experienced constipation or used laxatives in a period of time have a higher risk of developing kidney problems, even failure.

The nexus between these two is believed to be the gut bacteria, which appears in altered state and causes metabolic changes by slowing down the food transit. Although this study is not final and further research is required, these findings can lead to changes in methods of clinical treatments for constipated patients.

Based on Live Science’s data on constipation, the study directly shows that 13% of constipated patients are more likely to experience kidney problems. Therefore, the link is not yet definitely proven. According to Dr. Csaba Kovesdy, a professor of medicine at the University of Tennessee this study is just a starting point for more careful observation of patients with constipation problems.

On the other side, what are the biggest causes of constipation? According to Health Day, some causes are lack of fiber, medications and even lack of physical activity are the most common. Low fiber diets are definitely among them. They can lead to congestion of people’s bowels and slowing your metabolism down. Fibers and liquids prevent hardening and drying of one’s stool which makes it easier for transition and ejectment.

Another factor can be use of different sorts of medications. Antibiotic, antiparkinson drugs, antidepressants, blood pressure medications are just a few of sorts that can lead to constipation. Third factor can lack of physical activity. Even if it not yet proven why, doctors are believing that bowel movement goes along with body movement, at least both are BMs.

Connecting these, at first different problems makes you wonder about your health habits, diets, use of drugs or some aspect of your life. Should you change your habits and be more carefull about your health? Take action now to avoid all risks of kidney diseases.
