"Amazon" is reported to secure a Mafia Series starring Robert De Niro and Julianne Moore. The plot is rumored to be a crime thriller which is happening in the 1990's. This upcoming series is written and directed by David O'Russell.

In a report from Screen Rant, the Mafia Series which is in the works has been shopped around for a network. Eventually "Amazon" won over the others. The series has been set to be for two seasons. This upcoming series which does not have a title yet is produced by the Weinstein Company.

The series has been slated to be of eight episodes per season. "Amazon" has locked the upcoming series for $160 million deal. This is speculated to be serialized and the events will unfold like a crime drama series.

IGN reports that there have been many networks that are looking to get this series especially with the de Niro Russell and Moore package. "Amazon" won over and now the series is slated to air in the said streaming service.

This series is not the first for Russell and de Niro to be working together. The two have been working for films like 'Silver Linings Playbook' and 'Joy.' Now they work again for this "Amazon's" Mafia Series which does not have a specific date and details as of yet.

According to a report in Deadline, aside from "Amazon" pursuing the project, FX is also the one that has been interested in it. This is a rare project for a streamed series to be starred by a top actor of his time. De Niro is a well-known actor and so is Moore. They both have done box-office films all these years.

This collaboration is the second time for "Amazon" and The Weinstein Company. This is indeed a high profile project for the streaming service and the production company. As of this time there are no details of the plot and air date of the series has been reported yet.
