“Criminal Minds”, the successfully running series of 12 seasons, may have come to its worst moment, caused not by the show, but by events outside of it.

As it was reported by News Every Day, viewers of “Criminal Minds” have boycotted the series, after the Hotch (Thomas Gibson) was released from his contract. The reason given to fans was that he had “Directly Assaulted” a writer and producer of the series, which led to his immediate expulsion. This may have seemed enough to the producers of the series and staff of CBS, but for fans this was far from sufficient. Since then viewers have boycotted the series, until the return of Thomas Gibson to the series has not been officially announced.

Latin Post agrees that the boycott has been quite successful. The show’s episode got postponed twice and even though it was due to circumstances, the fall in rating was not. Just for this one episode, the network has registered a fall of 11% in their viewer base.

This is a critical hit to the series, as advertisement prices are based on viewer ratings and the lesser they are, the sooner the end of “Criminal Minds” may come. The “#NOHOTCHNOWATCH” hashtag on social networks proves that Thomas Gibson had a strong influence on the series, captivating minds and hearts of fans and viewers. For now, CBS has not directly addressed the problem, nor any further resolution to it.

Upon release from his contract, Thomas Gibson announced that he has no hard feelings towards the cast. He also said that it was a great desire for him to be part of the series until the very end, but sadly, it did not happen. Inquisitr shares further statements made by the actor. Gibson has claimed that the show’s staff and cast are like a family and it was this bond that has helped them have some the pretty successful run of twelve seasons.
