Fans of "Tokyo Ghoul" have to wait until 2017 to view the third installment of the critically acclaimed Japanese manga series which has over 18 million copies in circulation. Reports online have revealed the crisis hounding the third season of "Tokyo Ghoul" whose very long hiatus has made some fans antsy.

One of the issues that beset "Tokyo Ghoul" is the story arc of Ken Kaneki who is the show's main protagonist. As reported by "Game & Guide," Ken might be facing a default in future episodes of "Tokyo Ghoul, a rumor that has been refuted by the series' producers.

In September 2015, "Ecumenical News" tested the patience of hardcore fans with its report on the rumored cancellation of "Tokyo Ghoul" Season 3. Pierrot, the studio producing the series, decided to skip out on entire story arcs and to derail the development of several characters. This had infuriated the anime's followers who have been waiting long for their next "Tokyo Ghoul" fix.

Then in September 2016, "Parent Herald" assured "Tokyo Ghoul" aficionados that Season 3 will be released sooner than expected. The website reported that the studio would not deviate from the manga due to the criticisms it received from not being faithful to the source. Chinese news portal Yibada also reported on this.

The third offering of "Tokyo Ghoul" will highlight the character Touka Kirishima and will delve more on her difficulties adjusting with humans. Touka's hatred toward Ken will also be explored and developed further as the story goes by.

According to studio sources, the third season of "Tokyo Ghoul" will be darker than the previous installments and will be psychologically disillusioning. Several reports hinted that "Tokyo Ghoul" Season 3 will be the bloodiest and goriest.

Fans have remained anxious over the several delays experienced by the release of "Tokyo Ghoul" Season 3. Despite the prolonged break, the anime has maintained a strong following. That should be an impetus for Pierrot to expedite the release of the anime's third bonanza.
