Samsung revealed that it is launching an artificial intelligence virtual assistant for its latest 'Samsung Galaxy S8' mobile device. In its efforts in reviving the company’s smartphone reputation in the industry since the Note 7 debacle, Samsung will need to build excitement for its upcoming devices. And to build that excitement that the company needs, Samsung has been more forthright in releasing information of its upcoming 'Samsung Galaxy S8' smartphone.

Samsung disclosed in October of this year the acquisition of Viv Labs Inc., a firm that is founded by Adam Cheyer, Dag Kittlaus, and Chris Brigham. Mashable reveals that these are also the makers of Apple’s ‘Siri’ which is basically the company’s top competitor in the smartphone industry.

Samsung is planning to incorporate Viv Labs’ virtual assistant platform called “Viv” into their upcoming 'Samsung Galaxy S8' smartphones. Aside from that, the Reuters reveals that the company is also eyeing to integrate the voice assistant platform to some home appliances and wearable tech devices.

Compatibility with third-party applications might be the edge that Samsung might be looking for, writes Tech Radar. The report states that since Apple’s Siri is lacking in the compatibility area of third-party apps, refining its features might give the "Samsung Galaxy S8" virtual assistant slight advantage to the well-known ‘Siri’ AI. However, Samsung refused to comment on what services will be offered in the new AI platform that will be integrated into the "Samsung Galaxy S8" smartphone, which will be available for sale early 2017.

"Samsung Galaxy Note 7" owners can replace their old device at a discount in the upcoming smartphones. Now that the company is slowly revealing new features of their upcoming flagship devices, owners can choose whether to replace their device with the upcoming "Samsung Galaxy S8" or ditch it once and for all.
