"Tokyo Ghoul" Season 3 has just been confirmed. According to Anime Maru, the series will air during the winter anime season this 2016, with Madhouse taking over the anime series from Studio Pierrot. Madhouse is noted for its works such as "Death Note" and "One Punch Man."

The first episode of "Tokyo Ghoul" Season 3 will start with Touka Kirishima having a monologue as she picks among Kamii University, Duke University and To-Oh University for college, according to iTech PostThis season will finally provide Touka the spotlight she did not have in the previous season, and will show her plight and descent into college application madness.

The writers have said that this season will perhaps be the most disillusioning, psychological and darkest plotline they have ever attempted to adapt. According to News Everyday, there is an introduction of a new character. It is speculated that the main protagonist of the "Tokyo Ghoul: RE" manga - Sasaki Hayise - will be introduced as the new main character for the third season of "Tokyo Ghoul."

Game N Guide stated that "Tokyo Ghoul" Season 3 will not stray far away from its source material as the previous season was notably known to have diverted from the manga. It has been reported that fans of the show has turned to popular site Reddit to express their desire for a "Tokyo Ghoul" Season 3, making it one of the most highly requested anime based on fandom demand.

Based on the manga by Sui Ishida, "Tokyo Ghoul" follows the story of Kaneki Ken, a college student who almost died after being attacked by his date who turned out to be a vicious ghoul. Later, he discovers that he himself has turned into a half-ghoul and is forced to consume human flesh to survive. It is one of the most popular and highest rating manga worldwide.
