Everyone who has ever played Overwatch has been (at some point) featured as the "Play of the Game" at least once in their Overwatch career. The famous Play of the Game feature from the game is iconic and had been the subject of memes ever since the game came out in May this year. It gives players the fame and bragging rights of pulling off a spectacular feat during the team fights.

In an interview from Kotaku with lead hero designer Geoff Goodman in Blizzcon, he admitted that Play of the Game has a lot of flaws and Blizzard is already acknowledging the issue. "We are tweaking it regularly, but not massively revamping it," Goodman said.

He also added that Play of The Game 2.0 is already in the works. "We have ideas for cooperative Play of the Games. Because what we have right now is Zarya could use ult (shortened for ultimate, which is the final skill of a hero) and then Genji gets the credit." Goodman said. The idea would be to focus more on team plays rather than who gets the most kill in the round. Goodman even cited Mercy as an example and how she'd land in the Play of the Game 2.0 by resurrecting everyone and garnering kills afterward. Something that'd make any Overwatch player flip tables due to rage.

He also said in the interview that Blizzard wanted to highlight the combo play itself. It's tricky, and they have to think how to handle the intros of the Play of the Game and who gets the credit for it. Some of the Overwatch fans even provided mock-ups on what it might look like, so Goodman and his team have something to work on.
The Play of the Game feature is so iconic that it even became memes of different series such as Game of Thrones. With Goodman telling us there's gonna be a few changes in Overwatch's iconic feature, Overwatch fans finally have something that appreciates their efforts in the game to look forward to.
