"Samsung" is all fired up! Several Samsung Washing machine models were recalled last Friday. With Samsung’s recent Galaxy Note 7 fiasco, the South Korean company has yet another issue to resolve.

On November 4, 2016, Consumer Product Safety Commission of the United States issued a recall of a number of Samsung top-load washing machines due to the danger of detachment from chases during use, which might put users at risk from the impact.

The CPSC post states that there are 34 Samsung top-load washing machine models that were recalled which has mid or rear controls. The list of model numbers and other serial information are found here. Samsung owners can find theirs at the back machine.

The report states that there were already 733 reports of Samsung washing machines that were excessively vibrating which lead to the detachment of the top from the chassis. There were nine injuries related to the incident such as broken shouldered jaw, as well as other fall-related and other trauma.

Concerned consumers who own the affected Samsung washing machine models are advised to contact Samsung directly. Samsung will provide three options: (a) in-home repair including reinforcement of the machine’s top and one year extension manufacturer’s warranty all free of charge; (b) rebate upon purchase of another washing machine including installation of new unit and old unit removal also for free; (c) full refund for recalled Samsung washing machines purchased within 30 days upon the announcement of the recall. They should also be expecting a Home Label Kit in the mail, which has a control panel guide and safety instructions. Until then, recalled Samsung washing machine users should only use delicate or waterproof washing cycles for bed linens, water-resistant, and large items as it lessens the risk of the detachment of the top from the chassis.

The washing machine recall is another setback for Samsung. Following recalls of the Galaxy Note 7, Samsung’s endless debacle is slowly deprecating the brand name.
