Johnny Depp's Latest Announcement Had Fans Buzzing; Pirates of the Carribean Star Joining Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them 2
Fans have been waiting for Pirates of the Carribean star Johnny Depp to enter J.K. Rowling's magical world. It was announced recently that Depp is joining the cast of Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them for good this time after appearing in a cameo in the first film (out in theaters November 18).
Johnny Depp is said to be playing a co-starring role in the sequel with Eddie Redmayne in the lead role of Newt Scamander. Depp's spokesman, Paul McGuire, confirms to USA Today. Although it was not confirmed which role the star will partake, fans are extremely excited about the news. Warner Bros. was quiet about Depp's appearance in the show, and had managed to keep it a secret until Tuesday when rumors were spread after journalists saw the early screenings of the film.
Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them focuses on "magizoologist"/writer Newt Scamander, and his adventures to different places to find beasts and magical creatures. This was set 70 years before Harry Potter reads his book in school.
Harry Potter fans will remember Newt Scamander as the author of the magical schoolbook "Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them". The book is prescribed reading for students at Hogwarts. The first film will follow the events that will unfold when some magical creatures are released in New York back in the 1920s.
J.K. Rowling announced that she will write give Fantastic Beasts films for Warner Bros., meaning fans will get their fill of the magical world for five more years (or possibly more!) Director David Yates will also direct the second Fantastic Beasts film, which is due to release on Nov. 16, 2018.
Fans are very much excited to see Johnny Depp partake a role in the magical world, as they have been waiting for this ever since the Harry Potter film franchise had started. Several fans have also petitioned for Depp to play at least a little role in the franchise. However, that did not happen. It is fortunate that fans will get to see Johnny Depp in the magical world, albeit a different era, and franchise.
