Deadpool's Director Wants to Create Live-Action Sonic The Hedgehog Movie

The director of the popular movie, Deadpool, is going to be developing a live-action movie for Sonic the Hedgehog. Tim Miller, the director for Deadpool, said that he and his team are planning to make a live-action of Sonic, with hybrid CG-animated effects and live action.

Earlier in 2014, SEGA, the company behind the famous blue hedgehog announces a CGI/live-action film adaptation of Sonic but was silent about it ever since. Tim Miller, along with Blur Studio collaborator, Jeff Fowler, has been contacted to work on the movie project. It would be Fowler's first feature directorial movie. The two of them will be working with Neal H. Moritz, who is famous for the Fast and the Furious franchise. Miller would act as the executive producer for the movie. Patrick Casey and Josh Miller would be in charge of writing the script. Josh Miller helped create the movie Golan the Insatiable.

Sonic the Hedgehog is a video game franchise created by SEGA back in 1991. It focuses on the adventures of Sonic, a blue hedgehog who can run at fast speeds. Together with his friends, Tails and Knuckles, they attempt to foil all the plans of Dr. Eggman who seeks world domination. After a successful release into the market back in 1991, with over 350 million copies sold in different console platforms, Sonic became on the of the most iconic icons in the video game industry.

Tim Miller made his debut in the movie industry with Deadpool in 2016. He was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film for Gopher Broke, which he is the co-writer and executive producer. He is helped designed the opening sequence of famous movies such as The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and Thor: Dark World. He also helped co-found Blur Studio and produced animation and opening credits. He left the project for a Deadpool sequel due to creative differences.
