What will be new in the time-travel drama “Outlander” with the release of Season 3? Hold on as Sam Heughan teases fans to get a glimpse of what to expect in the upcoming season.

As previously reported by News Every Day, they questions that left fans hanging is will Claire and Jamie ever meet again? Well, Claire (Caitriona Balfe) managed to find her way back into 1948. This return poses two big problems before her, first is the decision of Claire and Jamie (Sam Heughan) to never meet each other again, leaving 200 years of history between one another. The second problem is Claire’s adaption to the modern world and her return to family and husband Frank (Tobias Menzies).

“Outlander” Season 3 will cover twenty years of the characters’ lives, locations will include Scotland, Jamaica and England before finishing the journey in North Carolina.

Inquisitr shares some additional information on the characters and their development. Claire went back to her time, using the stones and Jamie joined the Battle of Culledon. Both of them believe they have been forever separated by time and death itself. What actor Sam Heughan shares is that even though the battle will be merciless, his character will survive the skirmish and in his own words, during shooting he has been wearing a lot of prosthetic make-up, like the one he wore in the last two seasons every time the character would get hurt, scarred or shot.

Caitriona Balfe shares with Vanity Fair that the new “Outlander” Season 3 will feel like a death in the family. She says that when playing a role for a long time, you become one with the character and it becomes harder and harder to separate your emotions from the characters’ feelings. The two main parts of the series getting thorn apart is something which had reflected on the actors and has had even more devastating effects on the characters.

Balfe says her character and Jamie both believe the other is dead, so it is pretty hard for them to go on living in their own times, but as in the books, there will be a reunion at some point and that reunion has to be special, for the actors, character and viewers especially.

“Outlander” season 3 is expected to be released in 2017, on STARZ.
