Disney-DirecTV Deal Will Bring Viewers More Channels, Mobile Streaming

DirecTV and Walt Disney Co. are signing up a new deal which will bring service's subscribers more Disney owned channels, ABC, and ESPN content on any Internet-connected device. The multi-year distribution deal is a part of Disney's TV Everywhere service.

The deal will enable DirecTV's customers to access Disney content on any Internet connected devices, including laptop, smartphones and tablets. Users can access contents that are video-on-demand as well as live show feeds.

The agreement "allows both companies to evolve together into the future and gives DirecTV customers a wide range of in-home and out-of-home viewing options to enjoy the broad collection of ESPN, Disney and ABC content," Dan York, chief content officer at DirecTV, said in a statement.

The Internet content includes Watch ABC, WatchESPN, Watch Disney XD, and more.

DirecTV has 20 million U.S. customers and the deal will allow them to access and watch contents even when they are not at their home.

 "It's an immense and exciting undertaking to work together to shape the future of content consumption and the possibilities are endless." York added.

Terms of the deal are yet to be disclosed.
