Nine years since Gilmore Girls bid their goodbyes to the big screen, and it seems that while some things may have changed, others have not. Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life is a Stars Hollow reunion, bringing the major characters Lorelai, Rory, Emily, Luke, Lane, Sookie, and Kirk.

The Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life trailer is a teaser of the four-part event, giving glimpses of the re-run called "Winter" (Lorelai's favourite), "Spring," "Summer," and "Fall." The teaser also showed that Lorelai and Rory are still unhealthy, Emily is still quick-witted, and Luke remains a killjoy. The surprising detail in the entire trailer must be Kirk's appearance in the Friday night dinner.
Apart from Kirk, however, Emily is seen in casual clothes, t-shirt and denims. This is unnatural and "preposterous" if she were seen in such clothes nine years ago. It might be a way of mourning the death of her husband Richard Gilmore, played by the late Edward Hermann.

Three generations of Gilmore Girls seem to have lost their way in this series re-make. Emily mourning Richard's death, sorting through her things using Marie Kondo's method. The trailer shows that a lacy gray dress and dining room chairs do not bring her joy, had the things hauled out and others put in boxes. Lorelai feeling restless in her relationship with Luke. The trailer shows Lorelai talking with a counsellor about their relationship. Rory is just as lost as the older Gilmores. She says she doesn't have a job, she doesn't even have any underwear, while speaking with Jess. That is when she decides to go on a road trip, something that Emily disagrees on, in the Friday night dinner scene.

Dine with the Gilmore Girls three Fridays from now. Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life premiers November 25, 2016 on Netflix.
