For die-hard followers of American zombie drama The Walking Dead (TWD), the abrupt deaths of their favorite characters are worse than losing their boyfriends or girlfriends. The AMC show has caused emotional breakdowns on fans following the shocking departure of their well-loved characters. Some fans even sent petitions to the shows' producers, urging them to save fan favorites from the zombie scourge and other humans.

Let's look back at three of the most gut-wrenching kills from the hit show that devastated its cult of followers. These deaths have remained in the subconscious of the show's fans, with some hoping that their favorite characters could be resurrected - somehow, somewhat.

Topping the list is the brutal demise of Glenn Rhee, played by Steve Yuen, who is the first original cast member to perish since way back Season 3. His death was already hinted at before Season 7  started, but viewers hoped that he would be spared from Negan's bat wire toy Lucille. But Glenn will remain in the hearts of TWD fans, thanks to his and Maggie's unborn child.

Lori, Rick's wife, died during childbirth. Her son Carl was prompted to shoot his mother to prevent the latter's reanimation. Fans pointed out that there was no physical evidence to Lori's death, so theories about Lori surviving or Lori becoming a Walker have resurfaced. In an interview with Screenrant, Sarah Caillies who played Lori admitted that her role never redeemed herself with Rick and Carl.

Fans waited for six months to see Abraham (Michael Cudlitz) murdered by Negan. Abraham chose not to beg for his life after Negan picked him as the next victim. When Negan raised his batwire over Abraham, the latter even had the guts to yell "s*&k my nuts." That's our man!

Whose death in the show had devastated you the most? Who do you think will follow Glenn, Lori, Abraham and the rest of the 20 other characters who had said farewell to the show. Our fingers are crossed on the future tragedies that may befall the show.
