There had been killer clown reports across the United States and it becomes even more alarming as an increasing number of clowns appear. Some are even risking the lives of those they attempt to scare while others are doing other pranks that are not funny at all. Recently, news that the killer clowns will wreak havoc a night before Halloween emerged on the internet. Is this true?

The killing spree was announced on the Clown Hunters Facebook page saying that the killer clowns are planning to have a Purge night. "Purge night" is from the movie series "The Purge" wherein people are allowed to kill for twelve hours.

The Facebook post, which is now deleted, warned the public to "stay inside, keep all pets inside and keep all doors and windows locked." Of course, since the clown sightings are legit, many were alarmed and were worried about their safety. Nearly half a million people shared the post to warn others.

But according to Snopes, the report is false and there is nothing to worry about. It added that announcements like this are merely meant to scare people and are not real. The website also said that the police did not receive reports about this but still remain on alert.

However, the public is warned to remain vigilant. The Fair Lawn and Wayne Police Department also encouraged the people to report anything suspicious immediately. Although the purge is a hoax, people are still advised to stay in their homes for safety since it is possible that the killer clowns will do more pranks on Oct. 31.

Aside from the US, there are also killer clowns in different areas of the globe. It appears that others have joined the trend to perform pranks, scare others or even do some crimes wearing clown masks knowing that this is an effective way to hide their identities.
