Jennifer Lawrence is confirmed to star in a biopic about famous Jazz Age icon, socialite, and novelist Zelda Fitzgerald. The project, titled "Zelda", is based on a screenplay by Emma Frost.

The filmmakers have also optioned Nancy Milford's bestselling biography "Zelda", which served as inspiration for the screenplay, according to Variety. Ron Howard is developing the film as a possible directing vehicle. Lawrence will be teamed up with executive Allison Shearmur, who, as a former Lionsgate executive, worked with the actress when she starred as the lead in "The Hunger Games."

As a producer, Shearmur is also known to have produced Disney's live-action Cinderella and the upcoming Felicity Jones-led "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story." She also is an executive producer on the new "Power Rangers" film and the highly anticipated ABC musical event "Dirty Dancing." Oliver's Cross Creek Pictures, whose other recent films include "Black Mass" and the upcoming Tom Cruise film "Mena," is in talks finance and produce the movie.

The film will follow Fitzgerald, who after marrying famed author F. Scott Fitzgerald, tries to find her own voice in the jazz music scene as her husband rises through the ranks of great American novelists. An official description of the film reads, "Zelda Fitzgerald was married to F. Scott Fitzgerald and was her husband's indispensable muse and fiercest competitor. Desperate to define herself through her own art, the film explores the question - can love exist between creative equals?"

Following her Oscar-nominated role in "Joy," Lawrence seems consistent in portraying real-life figures. The same report also confirmed she is currently attached to play Elizabeth Holmes, the founder of the health-technology and medical-laboratory-services company Theranos, in "Bad Blood" from director Adam McKay. She will also portray war photographer Lynsey Addario in Steven Spielberg's drama "It's What I Do."

The Hollywood Reporter first reported that Lawrence will be seen in Sony's "Passengers" opposite Chris Pratt. The sci-fi space romance opens Dec. 21. She is also set to star in Darren Aronofsky's upcoming film with Javier Bardem. The movie is set to premiere in next year.
