Windows 10 Anniversary Update: Pros and Cons Of It Considering The Latest Vulnerabilities

Microsoft started rolling out the Windows 10 Anniversary update from August but a number vulnerabilities have reported recently. Those problems were found in Outlook, Edge and Internet Explorer. The firm has recently issued a patch and confirmed almost 49 bugs have been fixed. Further it revealed that 5 critical bugs in Internet Explorer is addressed, as it could help hackers otherwise. It is important to know the major additional features added with Anniversary update and drawbacks noted.

It has added "dark theme" to the screen that helps the users to rest the eyes and save battery. It can be enabled at Settings > Personalization > Colors > Dark Mode. The intelligent personal assistant "Cortana" gets useful options like "photo reminders" and also get option to make it available even when the screen is locked, cited by BBC. It has added "Sticky Notes" to the OS and also improved "Start" menu; it has listed most used programs and apps with power and settings buttons listed on left side of it.

Also the Windows update can be better managed by setting active hours to set-off convenient update. It can be activated at Security > Windows Update, then by choosing the time. Also Microsoft Edge is getting support to add browser extension, the three dot symbol on top right corner of Edge has option to set the extensions. Also user can choose "Action Tiles" for shortcut access to various applications, which can be accessed and added at Settings > Notifications and Actions > Quick Actions. "Microsoft Hello", the biometric authentication is another great feature, reports Express.

When it comes to improvements required for Windows 10 Anniversary update, "Microsoft Ink" should be more customized and useful with options like, the writings should be allowed to edit and pasted to office documents. Also proper integration of OneDrive is another improvement area as it is slow and looks like a mess.
