A new character is to be introduced in "Vikings" Season 5. The new speculated character to be introduced is named Astrid. She will become Lagertha's (Katheryn Winnick) female love interest and the character is to be portrayed by Josefin Asplund.

In a report from The Bitbag, Series Creator Michael Hirst hinted about how Astrid will affect Lagertha's life in "Vikings" Season 5. Astrid's appearance in the show does not have an impact of Lagertha realizing about her true identity. This new character is based on the research conducted by Dr. Peter Frankopan who is a historian at the Oxford University.

It is known that Lagertha's relationships with men always fail and that she has been hurt many times. Most of those times that Lagertha is in a relationship, these men only use her for their own interests. These heartbreaks led her to embrace her relationship with a female in "Vikings" Season 5.

Astrid is introduced in 'The Silk Roads: A New History to the World.' This gave way for Frankopan to consider the importance of the east. It also is being considered how the east helped shape modern Europe. Frankopan's research has made way for the new character to be introduced in "Vikings" Season 5. Astrid is expected to look more modern once she joins the series.

Meanwhile, "Vikings" Season 4 is still coming back and Lagertha is set to be stronger according to a previous report by News Everyday. She fights for the throne that she believes is rightfully hers against Queen Aslaug (Alyssa Sutherland).

Once Vikings Season 4 comes back there is a six years gap from when it ended. This means that there are already changes happening. It is also expected that the two women will have a fight over the throne. Queen Aslaug's anger for sure still is the same as before.

"Vikings" Season 4 Episode 11 returns on November 30, 2016.
