Sarah Jessica Parker plays corporate headhunter and mother of two teenagers, Frances, reports A.V. Club. She's come to hate her husband, Robert (Thomas Haden Church), a contractor with an unfortunate mustache.

At the start of the show, we start to see their morning interactions, and through it, a glimpse of her discontent as seen through her non-responsiveness to her husband, and culminating in her thrusting a middle finger to his back as he walks away.

Later on, the couple go to the 50th birthday of their friend, Diane (played by Molly Shannon). Diane gets into a fight with her husband NIck (Tracy Letts) and ends up pointing a gun at him. The shock caused him to get a heart attack and fall into a coma. Diane gets taken away in handcuffs. All in all, things did not end well.

According to The Washington Post, Nick's heart attack inspires Frances to leave her husband. Frances' other friend Dallas (played by Talia Balsam) has gone through the divorce ringer, and warns her not to expect much from the divorcee dating scene.

The show is smart, but painfully honest, in that it stresses how difficult marriage actually is. It isn't easy to watch, but may be easy to relate to for anyone who's gone through the pain, mess, and exhaustion that comes with splitting up.

Divorce was created by Sharon Horgan, reports People. The show is slated for 10 episodes and runs 30 minutes each. It's scheduled to show on HBO every Sunday at 10PM.
