Yet Another Spin-off With All-Female Cast, Ocean's 8, Will Release In 2018

Ocean's 8 the Ocean's Eleven spin-off having an all-star all- female ensemble cast will be in movie theaters in the summer of 2018.

The movie is headlined by Sandra Bullock and includes a dazzling array of stars - Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Rihanna, Helena Bonham Carter, Mindy Kaling, Awkwafina, and Sarah Paulson.

"It's a great script, and it's great for women," Bonham said. "Just hilarious."

Warner Bros announced this week that Ocean's 8 will be released on June 8, 2018. The summer release will see it coming up against Paramount's sixth "Transformers" movie, also a spinoff focusing on the Bumblebee Autobot.

Ocean's 8  will have Bullock leading a group of thieves in planning and pulling off a heist  much like the original movie series. Ross has co-written the script with Olivia Milch. The movie will be directed by Gary Ross is best known for "Hunger Games."

"It's a pretty similar tone. You know, Steven Soderbergh and I are incredibly close friends, and we would not have done this if we weren't. I don't think he would've wanted anyone to do it if we weren't. This is very much an extension and a continuation," Ross told Slashfilm.

Soderbergh will be producing the movie along Ross. Susan Ekins will be acting as the executive producer while Warner Bros.' Greg Silverman and Jesse Ehrman will oversee the film's production. The movie will be co-produced by Village Roadshow Pictures which had done so for the earlier Ocean's Eleven trilogy as well.

The movie is expected to start production this month in New York.

The original "Ocean's Eleven" trilogy starring George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Andy Garcia as well as Julia Roberts were a smash hit, with the heist comedies netting more than $1.1 billion worldwide.
