The best CEO of 2014 is Apple's Tim Cook, according to CNN Money. Cook beat out BlackBerry's John Chen, Yahoo's Marissa Mayer and Microsoft's Satya Nadella.

CNN Money mentioned that Cook has done well in the "toughest CEO job" in the United States by proving that Apple can still innovate after passing of Steve Jobs.

Cook managed to brought up Apple Inc's stocks up 40 percent - a feat that experts doubted he would ever achieve.

CNN also noted the company's super successful launches of its newest iPhones - iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.

Tim Cook was also awarded Person of the Year by Financial Times.

Cook is the first and only openly gay CEO of the 500 biggest US companies. Last fall, he proudly announced his orientation and wrote: "If hearing that the CEO of Apple is gay can help someone come to terms with who he or she is, or bring comfort to anyone who feels alone, or inspire people to insist on their equality, then it's worth the trade-off with my own privacy."

For a CEO, to carry that legacy like of Apple and continue to excel in business while retaining huge fan base is extremely tough. When Tim Cook became Apple CEO, many had doubts about his ability to innovate, which he proved wrong. Under his leadership, Apple not only can innovate but also make profit as a business.

CNN's CEO of the Year honor and Financial Times' Person of the Year is a great way for Tim Cook and Apple to end 2014 on a high note.
