‘NCIS’ News and Updates 2016: NCIS Showrunner Gary Glasberg Dies At The Age Of 50

The popular series on Naval Criminal Investigative Service, widely known as "NCIS", lost its top producer Wednesday. Gary Glasberg, who worked for the series as Executive Producer and Writer, died at the age of 50.

USA Today reports that "NCIS" Producer Glasberg died in his sleep and the cause of his death is still unknown. Glasberg has been married with co-TV Producer and screen writer Mimi Schmir for 20 years. They have both been graced with two sons, Eli and Dash.

Glasberg has been involved in the creation and production in a number of well-noted series such as "Crossing Jordan", "Bones", and "The Mentalist". He eventually joined NCIS in year 2009 and was very active in the daily operations of the show since then. He is one of the crucial persons behind the success of "NCIS" most especially that it gained the label of being the world's most watched TV show, a report from Mashable confirms.

On an updated article released by Deadline, the cast and crew of "NCIS" mourned of the show's big loss on Wednesday. They released an official statement admiring the great work Glasberg has done for them and for the show. The statement reads, "Gary was our rock, our cheerleader, our team captain. He inspired us with his leadership, his creative instincts and keen insight. NCIS will not be the same without him, and each of us will miss his smiling face and unwavering humor, which lifted us every day."

Some "NCIS" stars could only utter well words and expressed how they will miss the presence of the showrunner. With Glasberg being on the show for seven years, the show's stars will miss his words, inspirational push and "his great big smile" will surely be missed. Some expressed their individual mourning in their personal social media sites.
