Google Pixel And Pixel XL: Specs, Features, Prices And Everything You Need To Know

While many are following the progress and updates about Google Nexus 2016 for the Marlin and Sailfish codenamed products, it was revealed that Google dropped the brand and called the units as Google Pixel and Pixel XL.

Google Nexus Marlin/Pixel XL Specifications

According to reports, the larger unit is codenamed Marlin which will be more powerful. It will possibly be equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 chipset that offers a 10 per cent performance increase over the Snapdragon 820.

The Pixel XL will feature a 5.5-inch 2560 x 1440 pixel resolution AMOLED display, 4GB of RAM and 32GB or 128GB of memory, Android Police reported. It also added that there will be a 12-megapixel rear camera, 8-megapixel front facing the camera and a 3450mAh battery with USB Type-C charging.

Google Nexus Sailfish/Pixel Specifications

The smaller device is the Sailfish which runs on Snapdragon 820 chipset, 4GB RAM, and 32GB of storage. It would have a 2770mAh battery and USB Type-C charging. According to the leaked AnTuTu Benchmark, the camera of the handset will be 13-megapixel for the rear camera and an 8-megapixel front facing camera.

It will also have a 5-inches display with a 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution.

Google Pixel and Pixel XL Software, Price, Release Date

Both the Google Pixel and Pixel XL will come with the Android 7.1 Nougat software. Aside from that, the units will have a new launcher design that replaces the app drawer's icon with a frosted section. It is expanded by the user by swiping up or tapping the arrow, Pocket-Lint reported.

As for the price, it is not yet revealed but according to hearsays, it will be expensive which will be about $600.

It is speculated that the new Google phones will be released on Sept. 29 which will coincide with the launch of the Android 6.0 Marshmallow but this is not yet confirmed.

Google will have an event on Oct. 4 wherein the units might be launched along with Chromecast 4k and Daydream VR.
