Fans of 'The Vampire Diaries,' who were anxious about the dwindling cast size of the show have some good news.

Kristen Gutoskie, a familiar face from another TV show of executive producer Julie Plec, is now joining TVD. She will be essaying the role of a woman called Seline in the upcoming season. According to reports, this new character of hers is very much like her old character Katie Frank in 'Containment.'

Notably, Kristen played a mother and a grade-school teacher in 'Containment' who was doing her best to keep her children safe. In TVD too, she will be portraying a similar role. Seline is said to be a small-town girl who is a gentle and warm-hearted nanny to two young kids by day and an explorer, trying to find her place in an unrelenting world, by night. She is said to be very close to this small 'family' of hers and can go to any length to protect the ones she loves.

Speculations suggest that Seline will be playing nanny to the twin little girls of Caroline and Alaric. They need a special nanny to look after them as they are not ordinary girls and one of their parents i.e. Caroline has an important task cut out for herself. And it is very likely that Alaric will also join her along with Stefan and Bonnie to the save Damon and Enzo.

Well, it seems like Kristen would make for quite an interesting addition to the cast. A strong nanny, guarding two kids who are blessed with supernatural powers, makes for quite an intriguing character. Fans are sure to welcome her as they want to see more characters.

It is notable that Ian Somerhalder (Damon) and Kat Graham (Bonnie) have announced their departure. And with Nina Dobrev already out of picture, it would be really a delightful thing to watch a fresh face. What is more, her role is not a small one with infrequent appearances. It is of recurring nature and she will be seen quite a good number of times when Season 8 returns.
