Season 13 of 'Grey's Anatomy' will return in fall and it looks like, there is good deal of love in store for Dr. Meredith.

According to reports, she might take the romantic route with her best friend Alex. This is certainly exciting news for the fans of the duo for they have been rooting for their union for a long time. In the last season, it seemed as though they will have one but it did not materialize. Instead, she hooked up with Nathan Riggs.

Well, this is another love story that holds some potential. At this point, it does seem like she would not take it far for her half-sister has also expressed her crush for him. But it does not mean she will back off easily. Even if she does, one doesn't know what Nathan thinks. He might feel like pursuing it. After all, he has not shown any interest in her half-sister.

But the fan following and producers seem to be in favor of Alex and Meredith. Executive producer Betsy Beers has also expressed his approval for their linkup. He said that the fans are right in wishing for it as it seems inevitable. He added that in his view, it is a logical place to go.

However, he also said that there is a section of fans that wants Alex and Jo to come together despite their differences. According to him, they are quite crazy and therefore, it is a nice thing that both groups have something right now.

It is worth mentioning here that Meredith and Alex are the only original resident doctors left at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital. Their colleagues have either moved away or passed away. The two share a very strong friendly relationship, which has weathered all kinds of storms.

After Derek (Meredith's husband) passed away, he lent her great support and many thought that their friendship would eventually blossom into love but it did not. Still, there is enough scope and season 13 might give us the same or there might be a love triangle as well.
