There is still a good deal of time before season 8 of 'The Vampire Diaries' gets back to TV screens and until then, everything about the upcoming season can be best summed up in speculations and guesses.

But fans have some good news as Candice King, who plays Caroline in the show, has opened up about the upcoming events and the mindsets of the characters. The actress revealed a lot of things when she attended the CW Upfronts presentation along with other stars of TVD.

Speaking to Eric Goldman of IGN, she shared her thoughts about the forthcoming storyline and indicated that Damon and Enzo can be saved. She told him that she is anxious to see how Alaric plays into restoring the duo back to their good self and how quickly Stefan, Caroline and Bonnie can find the vampires.

The actress also said that she wishes the characters on TVD to go on a road trip. Talking about a normal life for the vampires, she clearly expressed her concern. And when it came to discussing Caroline and Stefan's relationship, King was quite sure that the duo stands a good chance of having a healthy relationship.

However, she admitted to happy relationships not creating interesting television. And when she said this, she was completely echoing the thoughts of showrunner Julie Plec. The latter has previously said that she always believes that the saddest and truest rule of television is that there is no drama in happiness.

But Plec did add that exception to the rule also exists and it can be best described as happiness being as comforting as soup when one is sick. She said that she would really like to see Caroline and Stefan have some of that comfort as long as they can afford it, which is, when they have enough time before they come across another obstacle.

It is worth noting here that Season 7 finale has left many loose ends in TVD and with the rescue task of vampires on hand, the upcoming season is bound to be full of revelations and exciting drama.
