The move by the WWE to create two distinct brands in RAW and Smackdown, with separate roster of wrestlers for both, has created a stir not only among the stars, producers and former wrestlers but also the fans who might be wondering about the next destination of their favourite wrestlers. One of the most important thing one people's minds in relation to the brand split was the final destination of John Cena when it kicks in and according to reports in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, it seems that the WWE super star is going to choose Smackdown as his destination. According to that particular report, WWE RAW is going to be the stoming ground of Roman Reigns, who is without doubt one of the biggest stars in the business and is set for bigger things in the next decade. The company's decision to make him the proverbial captain of WWE Raw, its flagship show is without doubt a nod in that direction.

John Cena, on the other hand would be the captain of Smachdown and will be tasked with the responsibility of establishing the show as a separate brand once the two shows go their different ways later on this year. As far as following and brand recall is concerned, WWE Raw is the more established brand simply because of the fact that it is the WWE's oldest and most recognisable show, while Smackdown needs to build its own identity following the brand split and that is probably the reason why the company has chosen John Cena as the face of the show when the split finally happens.

However, all these reports should be taken with a pinch of salt since the company are still in talks about the exact direction in which it wants the shows to go and hence the plans can change at any moment depending on a range of circumstances. As of now, Cena is being touted as the new face of WWE Smackdown but as long as it is not made official, it needs to be taken with a pinch of salt.
