Sony Xperia X News Update: Specs, Features, Pre-Order Date and Release Date Revealed

The Japanese consumer electronics giant Sony's next generation Xperia lineup is intended to cater mid-range markets. While the price is reasonably affordable than its higher-end counterparts, its smartphone lineup does include features that would give it a luxurious feel. The Sony Xperia X lineup is expect to officially hit the US market on June 26. However, pre-orders for the models of the latest X series will kick off in mid-June.

"Xperia X series is designed to let you interact with the world around you in exciting ways, making lives more enjoyable and delivering new intelligence that sets it apart," said Sony Mobile Communications North America exec Kunihiko Shiomi as quoted in a press release.

Pre-orders for the basic Xperia X has already started with offers through Best Buy, Amazon, B&H and Reagan Wireless for US$549.99. For each pre-order comes a free 128GB MicroSD memory card. Also coming out this month are the Xperia X Performance, Xperia X, Xperia XA and Xperia XA Ultra models, Australia News Network reported.

Xperia X Performance pre-order is set to start from June 17 with S$699.99 price tag. On the other hand, the Xperia XA Ultra and Xperia XA pre-orders will kick off on June 19. The price for Xperia X Ultra (with free 64GB MicroSD memory card) is US$369.99 while the price for Xperia XA stands at US$279.99 (plus a free SD card).

Sony Xperia X Performance, Xperia X, and Xperia XA models will arrive in White, Graphite Black, Lime Gold and Rose Gold color editions while Sony Xperia XA Ultra will be offered in White, Graphite Black and Lime Gold options. As expected, the latest Xperia X flagships will come with state-of-the-art camera technologies that eclipses camera features of some high-end brands.

Here is a summary of each model's specs and features as per Tech Times:

1. XPERIA X: 5-inch Full HD 1,080p TRILUMINOS display, hexa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 processor, 3 GB of RAM, 32 GB (single SIM) or 64 GB (dual SIM) internal storage options, expandable memory up to 200 GB with a microSD card, 23-megapixel (f/2.0 lens) primary camera and a 13-megapixel (f/2.0 lens) front-facing camera, and a 2,620 mAh battery.

2. XPERIA X PERFORMANCE: same screen and camera found on the Xperia X, Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, 3 GB of RAM, 32 GB of on-board storage, expandable storage capacity to 200 GB, and 2,700 mAh battery.

3. XPERIA XA: 5-inch HD 720p display with mobile BRAVIA engine 2, borderless screen, octa-core MediaTek helio P10 processor, 2 GB of RAM, 16 GB of internal storage, 200 GB external storage capacity, 13-megapixel primary camera and an 8-megapixel selfie camera, and 2,300 mAh battery.

4. XPERIA XA ULTRA: 6-inch Full HD 1,080p screen with mobile BRAVIA engine 2, edge-to-edge screen, MediaTek MT6755 chipset, 3 GB of RAM, 16 GB of internal memory, expandable 200 GB with a microSD card, 21.5-megapixel primary and 16-megapixel front-facing camera, and 2,700 mAh battery.

Upon its release, all Sony Xperia X handsets will be running on Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS.
