WWE teased fans of John Cena's return to full-time status in the ring in highly advertised appearance in WWE Monday night on Raw signaling the 15-time world champion's official comeback. The crowd was in hyper-mood following the arrival of WWE's biggest star until AJ Styles came out with his rowdy 'The Club' gang crashed into the ring and gave a Cena a humiliating warm welcome.

Styles alongside Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson viciously assaulted Cena with the segment ending with the champ in great pain while the mischievous trio stood tall feeling all-too confident according to the Bleacher Report.

After Cena's promo speech about how WWE transitioned to a new era in his long absence following a slew of injuries, he reminded the crowd that he's still a force to be reckoned with. Then AJ Styles theme music went into a loud bang as he walked his way to the ring with the crowd teasing for a warm-up duel.

After hitting the microphone, Styles uttered his own babyface promo speech talking about how much he despised hearing 'everybody loves Cena' stuff repeatedly while he, on the other hand, kept getting all the hate he didn't deserve. In a gentleman kind of way, Styles said he simply wanted to welcome Cena back to WWE.

As the two WWE stars shook their hands in the spirit of sportsmanship, the whole positive ambiance was suddenly broken as Anderson and Gallows' crashed into Cena's welcome party with their theme music in the background.

Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson had previously severed their ties with Styles last week, Fox Sports News reported. As the duo made their way to the ring, the audience thought they were luring both Styles and Cena to a fight. Of course, the whole thing was an orchestrated ruse to catch Cena off-guard. As Cena prepared for take on 'The Club', Styles blindsided him as the rest Anderson and Gallows hurried to the ring and ganged up on him in a vicious beatdown to Cena's grand welcome.

But of course, the segment was only a teaser for what's to come- a match between John Cena and AJ Styles which would be included in WWE's Madison Square Garden return on July 16, Wrestle Zone reported. Apart from Cena-vs.-Styles match-up, other main card events include: Seth Rollins vs. WWE World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns and Chris Jericho vs. Dean Ambrose in a Street Fight. Other wrestlers lined up for the WWE MSG event include The New Day, WWE Women's Champion Charlotte with Ric Flair, The Usos, Natalya, Karl Anderson, Luke Gallows, Apollo Crews and The Vaudevillains.
