Fans awaiting the release of 'The Winds of Winter' do not seem to be getting any good news as there is no information about the release, from any quarter. But there is some associated news that will make them smile.

Author George R.R. Martin gave the fans a view of a free chapter from the sixth installment at Balticon. According to reports, Martin, at the science and fiction convention, asked fans to choose one of the three chapters which included a chapter about Mercy, Arya Stark's alter ego, Aeron "Damphair" Greyjoy and "Sons of the Dragon"- some ancient history about Westeros.

The crowds cheered for Aeron "Damphair" Greyjoy, prompting Martin to remark that there were lots of Greyjoy fans. And since they had chosen it above others, he gave them a free reading of the same. And what came out of the reading gives readers and fans a good idea of the super villain Euron Greyjoy is. In fact, he is worse than Ramsay Bolton, who tops the list and is despised by all, for his savagery and sadist nature.

The new chapter throws ample light on the grotesque acts Greyjoy has committed and also reveals how he mistreats his younger brother Aeron aka "Damphair" Greyjoy. He is an abuser and there are references to him that indicate he might even have raped Aeron. He admits to killing not only Balon but also two more of his brothers.

As for Martin, he did not express any kind of hatred for Euron or called the chapter his favorite. He said that he relates with all the chapters of "The Winds of Winter" because he has developed sympathy for all of them. He also admitted to finding Aeron's faith interesting but did not share his beliefs.

Well, the chapter about Greyjoys is certainly a welcome news for everyone awaiting the book's release, howsoever small it might be. It has sparked a flurry of theories and fans are really enjoying it as they dissect the characters and build their own imaginary castles.
