In the upcoming book, "The Winds of Winter," Marwyn, a Citadel archmaester may have a more significant role. In a recent news, it was pointed out that "Marwyn the Mage" nickname was given to Marwyn because of his interest in magic and sorcery.

As per "A Feast for Crows," George RR Martin introduced Marwyn when Sam Tarly shared his experience about the Others and the things he saw north of the Wall. This is when Marwyn decides to meet Daenerys in Mereen and discuss about what he learned. The report says that the readers will follow Marwyn's ensuing adventure in the upcoming book.

The report also highlights that Marwyn will bring peculiar artifacts and knowledge with him. With his is a glass candle, akin to palantir, which is also an ancient Valyrian artefact. Even though it didn't work in the last hundred years, it has now been lit up, indicating that the dormant powers are now awake after being inactive for centuries. Marwyn sets off to Mereen to tell Daenerys about this and the readers will learn more about it in "The Winds of Winter." For now, Daenerys' mind is set towards conquering Westeros and is unaware of the dangers lurking beyond the wall.

According to the recent reports, "The Winds of Winter" might be released in the second half of the year. However, the news remains unconfirmed by George RR Martin and no official release date has been announced yet. Previous reports revealed that Martin shunned the claims that the book will come out in May. "Complete crap, yes. Who makes up these stories? " Martin said to a fan who enquired if the book is indeed releasing in May.
