New reports confirm the October launch of WWE 2K17 although no official word on the specific release date has come out either from 2K Games or Take-Two Interactive. If the release pattern of earlier titles are of any indication, then the game publisher is likely to unveil the game on October 25.

As reported by Christian Today, the October time window was confirmed during Take-Two Interactive sales brief posted on the official WWE 2k Facebook page. In the past, WWE 2K games were often launched on a Tuesday in late October making October 25 the most likely candidate for the release date.

Some reports, however, indicate that the WWE 2K17 title may only apply to the latest generation of console platforms plus PC. The platforms on which the game will be released on remains TBA (to be announced) although some industry observers speculate that the upcoming title may only be suited for PC, PS4 and Xbox One coinciding with reports about wrestlers getting scanned again for enhanced graphics. Applying an improved graphics to the game requires ditching older console generations. Similarly, other studios are starting to design their games that fit PS4 and Xbox One graphic requirements.

As mentioned earlier, better gaming visuals are forcing wrestlers to be rescanned. According to Ecumenical News, Sheamus, Dean Ambrose, Big Show, and Alberto Del Rio were among those who got rescanned for the game which made them all miss a SmackDown event. In addition, wrestler Alundra Blayze/Madusa was reportedly scanned in April. The recently scanned pro wrestlers could either be made playable at the October launch or as character add-ons in a content expansion.

In another relevant WWE 2K17 update, Game N Guide reported that future titles of the WWE 2K franchise might be released in two versions following the brand split between Raw and SmackDown. This ultimately spends additional buying cost to enjoy both versions.
