Although it is true that Barcelona enjoyed a superb season in 2015-16 in which they won the Spanish La Liga and the Copa del Rey, they are still smarting from their quarter final exit in the UEFA Champions League and are already looking to boost the first team with new recruitments for 2016-17. Barcelona are looking to add more creativity in the central midfield position and has identified Manchester United's Spanish play maker Juan Mata is an ideal addition to their already star studded squad. The midfielder who is regarded as one of the most creative players in the English Premier League joined Manchester United from Chelsea in 2014 and he has been one of the standout players during the period in which the team has struggled to score goals.

However, the appointment of Jose Mourinho at Manchester United has put Mata's future into doubt yet again and considering the fact that Mourinho hardly ever used him in 2013, even though he had been Chelsea's best player the season, clearly shows that the player would find it hard to impress the manager this time round. In such a situation, it is only going to be a prudent move for Mata if he decides to end his time at Manchester United and joins one of the biggest clubs in Europe in Barcelona. After all, there are very few players in the world who would pass up on the opportunity to play with Messi, Neymar and Suarez in front of him every week.

Barcelona have often struggled with a lack of depth in midfield at different points this season and that had a lot to do with a bare bench, which is why their interest in Juan Mata makes perfect sense. Manhester United bought him for a widely reported fee of £37 million two years ago and it remains to be seen what sort of opening bid Barcelona come up with. The report that Barcelona are interested in Juan Mata first surfaced in the Spanish publication named Mundo Deportivo.
