After six seasons, AMC's zombie series 'The Walking Dead' has attained a cult status. And ever since the spin-off "Fear the Walking Dead" went on air in 2015, there have been talks of a crossover, but the show creators always shot down the speculations.

However, things seem to be changing now as Robert Kirkman has indicated at the possibility. He said that the crossover would be hard to put in place but it can happen. He said this while replying to a fan at the recently-organized Hawaii Comic Con.

The executive producer of the two shows said that the programs are in two different timelines, one in the seventh season while another in second. So, it would be crazy to imagine a crossover but since the characters are in the same universe, it is completely possible for them to encounter each other. Still, they are geographically far apart and the encounter makes sense only over the course of many, many seasons.

Well, his statement does not confirm the crossover but the fact that he stated a possibility happening over many seasons suggests that AMC could be thinking of setting up a premise for the crossover. It is worth mentioning here that The Nerdist had suggested a makeover even before "Fear The Walking Dead" went on air.

However, showrunner Dave Erickson has refuted the speculations, saying that the chronology is very far apart and there is a continent between the shows. He clearly said no upon the crossover proposition, adding it was the one straight answer he could give.

So, what does one make of Robert's statement? Is it going to happen? In the near future, the possibility is quite low but it cannot be ruled out after one or two more seasons of "Fear the Walking Dead" have aired.

As of now, its second season is going to return to TV screens from August 21. And it is speculated that seventh season of "The Walking Dead" will follow suit from October 16, 2016 when the finale of the former is over.
