On Sunday, the 'Born This Way' singer, Lady Gaga was present at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the 100th running. This year, it was rookie Alexander Rossi, who won the race, even though it was his first race.

Lady Gaga attended the Indy 500 all along suited up in a nicely flamboyant racing outfits and helmet. She hitched a ride along with legendary racing driver Mario Andretti during the ceremonial laps just before the 100th running. She and Andretti, the 1969 Indy 500 winner was ready to roll onto the racing track with the field of 33 drivers in a custom-built, two seated Indy car just before the race. This actually led the official pace car for three laps before the Sunday's race began.

Mario Andretti, who won the Indianapolis 500 in 1969, shared his experience just before hitting the racing track. He said that, 'The extraordinary @ladygaga is riding with me in my @Honda 2-seat IndyCar at the start of this historic Indy 500. Could I be any luckier?"

The 30-year-old singer was a late substitute for the country star Keith Urban. Keith was scheduled to ride with Mario, but he was unable to attend for the ceremonial appearance as he is suffering from severe injuries on his back and is still recovering. Apart from Lady Gaga, Chris Pine of Star Trek fame also attended the event and was the one who waved the green flag to start the race. Keith Urban also tweeted his disappointment on not being able to be a part of the celebrations.

Lastly, Indianapolis Motor Speedway president, Doug Boles stated that-"Travel to any corner of the globe and people know exactly who Lady Gaga is" made it more exciting for all.
