Although Jim Harbaugh reportedly wants to stay within the NFL, a lucrative offer from the University of Michigan could change his mind. According to several reports, UM has offered the San Francisco 49ers coach a six-year contract worth $48-$49 million.

UM and Harbaugh have not commented about this offer at all, but if he were to accept it and if the deal is accurate, he would be the highest paid college football coach.

"We will not be commenting on any parts of the search process until we have our new coach in place," Michigan associate athletic director Dave Ablauf said reported by the Detroit Free Press. "We also will not discuss any speculation, rumors or sourced information throughout the search."

Over the past weeks, rumors have circulated that Harbaugh's future with the 49ers is most likely coming to an end, and where he will go has been speculated time after time. If Harbaugh chooses to leave the NFL, returning to his Alma mater makes a lot of sense. Harbaugh was a star quarterback in Ann Arbor.

According to CBSSports.com, there are also rumors that the information regarding the contract was leaked by none other than Harbaugh or his agent in order to get a similar offer from other teams, such as the Raiders. In 2011, UM offered Harbaugh $5.2 million a year, which he rejected after the 49ers upped their offer from $4-$4.5 million to $5 million a year.

Whether or not the UM contract is accurate, Harbaugh will surely be the subject of many rumors as the season comes to an end.
