The new weight loss pill is finally available to make it easier for people to lose those extra pounds.

According to a new study, some people can now attempt to lose weight by inflating a balloon inside their stomach.

The new weight loss device, created by a company in California called Obalon, comes in a form of a small capsule. The small pill has a deflated balloon inside it, which is, in turn, attached to a catheter. As soon as the pill is swallowed, the tube sticks out.

When the capsules reaches the stomach of the person attempting to lose weight, the balloon gets released. It is then inflated with the help of a gas pump, a procedure which is carried out by a doctor. During the entire process, the doctor pulls out the tube while the balloon remains inside the stomach.

The inflated balloon takes a large portion of the space inside the stomach, hence keeping it full at all times. This, in turn, helps curb appetite. According to the doctors, multiple balloons can be placed inside the stomach of the person wishing to lose weight so that a major portion of the space in the stomach remains occupies and there is a reduction in total calorie intake.

The new device is yet to receive approval from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). However, it is not clear whether the product would be covered under the insurance after FDA approval.

The company has, in fact, not even decided the price of the product. However, its website states that the balloon can cause side effects such as nausea, vomiting and cramping. The list is subject to change based on the findings of the research which is still being conducted.

Despite the positive feedback and clinical trials, balloons alone cannot curb the epidemic of obesity that the country is battling today. It is important to incorporate diet and lifestyle changes in daily routine.
