'The Winds of Winter,' the sixth installment of "A Song of Ice and Fire", is one of the most widely-anticipated releases of this year. And now that the sixth season of 'Game of Thrones' has reached its halfway mark, book lovers are finding it difficult to contain their curiosity.

But no release is in the offing. Not at least in the current month. All those rumors about the book hitting the stalls by the end of this month have been quashed by George R.R. Martin. According to reports, the author has finally spoken up and clearly discarded all the speculations that were saying "The Winds of Winter" would see release in May. He has said that he is still working on the novel.

So, it means the wait is going to be longer. The rumors had been going strong only because of the chapter he recently released on his blog. A few weeks back, the author had released a chapter from "The Winds of Winter" on his blog, which told the story from the point of view of Arianne Martell, daughter of prince Doran Martell and the niece of Oberyn Martell, but she is nowhere in the show universe to be seen.

So, the author's sixth installment, when it is finally published, will definitely be very different from what the HBO series is currently showing us. But for that to happen, one will have to wait and nobody really knows how long the wait is going to be. Martin did not give any clues about the time of the book's release on his blog.

He only said that 'The Winds of Winter' is going to have a lot of action and the sample is meant to give readers a taste of what lies ahead. He rubbished the rumors categorically and indicated that the book is in the process. Referring to his picture with a monkey on his back, he said that it is growing and will meet readers one day.
