Game developer Capcom could possibly announce something about Resident Evil 7 at Electronic Entertainment Expo 2016 (E3), if tweets from a highly reputable gaming industry analyst Serkan Toto prove accurate.

Toto is quite a prominent analyst in the gaming industry who is leading a Tokyo-based consulting firm with a credible record for accurately revealing insider leaks from a network of reliable sources.

As per Inverse report, the survival horror franchise will reportedly retrace its horror roots which made the iconic game a successful. The game deviated from its original flavor with 2012's sixth title release. The analyst also tweeted that Capcom hired well-known Konami developer Jordan Amaro whose notable works include Metal Gear Solid V and, of course, the ultra-terrifying PT.

Resident Evil is perhaps one of the most iconic franchises ever made especially in this age when zombies have become a staple in popular culture as seen in a number of movies, music videos, and TV series heavily laden with zombie themes.

The popular allure of Resident Evil lies in its highly exhilarating survival horror theme in its titles. The franchise even had a series of movies to its name with decent box office records despite being slightly off the original source.

However, in recent years the subsequent titles of the game have become more preoccupied with action rather than cultivating its horror series roots, Screen Rant reported. This deviation from the original genre resulted to a collective displeasure as seen in the dismal sales reports. In a highly digitized age with sophisticated remastering technology, Resident Evil 7 needs a total makeover and pay homage to its origins which made a household name in the gaming world.

"I think we'll get a lot of input from the fanbase and the media on what it means for Resident Evil, and what it could mean for the future of the series, once Revelations was released," said game producer Masachika Kawata as quoted by VG247. "Moving forward I can see us focusing even more on the horror aspect and fear in the series, and see us making something scarier than we have already."
