Micromax is taking the smartphone battle to a whole new level in its home country, India. The popular smartphone vendor announced YU's Yureka smartphone in India that is hard to ignore in the crowded budget-smartphone market. Micromax's new online brand, YU's first smartphone features are impressive as it is and presents a hard bargain at Rs. 8,999.

Micromax already gave a glimpse of its power in India by legally prosecuting leading Chinese brands, Xiaomi and OnePlus. Now, the phone maker is claiming its lost dominance in the budget smartphone category by launching its worthy Yureka smartphone. Let's dive right into the smartphone's specs now.

Micromax Yureka smartphone features a 5.5-inch 720p display with 4G LTE connectivity. The smartphone gets the title of cheapest 4G Android smartphone in the country. Micromax is using its exclusive partnership with Cyanogen to power its new phone, which has been one of the major attractions of Yureka. The new CyanogenMod-powered smartphone is the best for those who like to experiment with their smartphones as YU offers unlockable bootloader, kernel source, full Android build tree and allows phone rooting without having to lose your warranty.

Under the hood, the Yureka smartphone is powered by a 1.5GHz octa-core 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor, Adreno 405 GPU for graphics, 2GB RAM and 16GB built-in storage. There is a microSD card slot to add up to 32GB storage.

There's an impressive 13-megapixel rear camera with Exmor Sony CMOS sensor and a 5MP front shooter. To keep the device running for long hours, there's a 2,500mAh battery.

With these impressive specs and reasonable price tag, Micromax is taking on Xiaomi directly. Yureka leaves consumers confused between the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G and other smartphones under Rs. 20,000. The company also has a home advantage that will help deliver a greater after-sales service. For Rs. 8,999, Yureka is definitely a steal.

The smartphone will be sold exclusively through Amazon.
