News reports are buzzing with the rumor that "Sherlock" may meet his end in Season 4, as the books suggest. Mark Gatiss, co-writer of the show hinted that season 4 will be a lot more than the fans expected.

In the upcoming season, the troubles will start brewing up as Jim Moriarty, antagonist, makes a comeback. Report says that this time, Moriarty's target is not Sherlock but his best friend, John Watson and his wife Mary. However, Sherlock will put his life on the line to save his friends and take down his longtime enemy. But this encounter may, presumably, be the last time when these two geniuses are at each other.

There are also speculations that if John Watson does die at the hands of Moriarty, it will leave Sherlock despondent, with no reason to live. As a result, he will commit suicide. Gatiss has already dropped hints about how the next season will be life-changing.

"All I can say is, this is a major, life-changing series for the regulars. The repercussions of Moriarty's apparent return are far-reaching. It's very big stuff," the "Sherlock" season 4 creator told Entertainment Weekly.

The word is that "Sherlock" season 4 will air on Jan 1. However, it possible that the show may air much sooner than that date. Martin Freeman has already mentioned that the show may air around Christmas, instead of New Year. "We are back filming now and the three shows will, I imagine, be out around Christmas," he told the publication.
