Vinny Desautels is a seven-year-old boy from Roseville, California. For a year,he grew his hair, so that he could donate it to cancer patients. One month later he sent it to Kids' Cancer Twigs and was diagnosed with Stage 4 Ewing Sarcoma.

His grandfather Ron from Summerville South Carolina agreed that he had been growing his hair for a year so that he could give the hair to make wigs for cancer patients. Ron also explained that Vinny had been extremely happy to help others. He was not selfish, and he was a unique person who broke the molds, said ABC News.

His mother, Amanda Azevedo, is a hair stylist who regularly volunteers in a local lymphoma foundation. Having fixed the hair of earlier cancer patients, she had taken Vinny for an event at her organisation.

When he asked his mother what she was doing, she explained that she was helping cancer patients in a small way. It was heartbreaking for patients, she said, especially females.

One month after he gave his hair, he came home complaining of knee pain. His parents detected a lump on his right hip and also an inflamed eye.

They brought him to an emergency room and then sent him to a Sacramento hospital to undergo CT scan, MRIs and blood test. The tests revealed that he suffered tumors on his hip as well as in the bone region around his eye. It was confirmed that he was suffering from Ewing's sarcoma, a rare form of cancer in bones or soft tissues.

Vinny's heartwarming story went round the world when his grandfather, Ron, created a GoFundMe page, titled "Victory for Vinny" to raise money to meet his medical expenses. It generated more than $86,000 in 9 days.

Ron noted that Vinny always took a positive approach to everything. The child had said to Ron: "Hey, I'm going to do everything I can to get better."

"He's just a happy little guy. It's just unreal," said his grandfather.
